Gabriel Restaurant on Shimon Ben Shetach Street is located in a beautifully renovated old Jerusalem building. There are two floors; the upper is a cozy bar area, also used for private parties.
The food at Gabriel is outstanding both in taste and presentation. There is an artist in the kitchen with a good eye for shape, color and design. The kitchen is classic French fusion: French sauces and a healthy dose of Eretz Yisrael.
Get set for magnificently prepared dishes such as Veal Carpacchio, goose liver in a date sauce with raisins and pistachio nuts, Tornado Rossini, Beef Wellington, Chateaubriand and Chicken Cordon Bleu. These outstanding dishes do not come cheap but dining at Gabriel is worth every shekel.
Carrousel - 3 Zarchin St, Ra'anana 09-7460586
Don't let the size of this restaurant fool you. Carrousel is a 5-table restaurant in a small store-front on Rambam Street, just off Ahuza.
Owner, manager, & Parisian chef Stephan has managed to turn the small size of this restaurant into an advantage. The restaurant is quaint and personal and you might even say charming.
Not just your basic dairy restaurant, Carrousel specializes in French gourmet dishes. The menu is still in flux, with new dishes being added all the time.
The blackboard lists Stephan's standard exotic dishes like quiches and lasagna. Stephan is still experimenting with the menu, adding new items to the blackboard all the time.
Be sure to try Stephan's luscious home-made rolls. Brown and crusty on the outside and soft in the inside, these cup cake shaped rolls are so good they are a dish on to themselves.
