Dinner for Two at Coffee & Friends Restaurant, Raanana

Coffee & Friends is the latest star to shine on Raanana's Ahuza Street. The coffee bar restaurant is located in the street side courtyard of the tall medical building on Ahuza just west of Maccabi Street. There is indoor and outdoor seating.

Owners Oren and Oren have done a wonderful job with this restaurant. Both partners come from years of experience at various branches of Arcafee, so they know their coffee bars. The emphasis, they told us, is on good food, quality ingredients, excellent coffee and desserts. Sounds good to me.

The atmosphere, which is warm and friendly, is true to the name of the restaurant. Part of the outdoor area has been cleverly enclosed for the winter with a canvas-like safari tent with windows, and stove heaters keep diners warm. In the spring and summer there is plenty of outdoor seating, secluded with greenery.

The restaurant has an extensive dairy menu. There are pastas, sandwiches, salads and a curious selection of specials, including exotic items like tortilla shells filled with cheese and tomatoes. There is a three-course business lunch offered from noon till 5:00pm for just NIS 38. There is no smoking at the bar till 9:00pm. Recommended
